1963 Ferrari 250 GTE

Ferrari introduced the 250 GTE in 1960 to an extremely enthusiastic market resulting in the most successful production run of any Ferrari model to that date. Based upon the 250GT which appeared in 1954, the 250GTE, produced from 1960 to 1963, incorperated engineering elements of the 250GT as well as a number of improvements developed along the way such as disc brakes and more refined suspension. Perhaps the most obvious difference was the addition of rear seating making this the first four-seater Ferrari. This was accomplished by moving the engine and transmission slightly forward while maintaining the same wheelbase, thereby preserving the handsome 250 styling. Although quite small, the two occasional seats effectively addressed a broader range of high performance sports car enthusiasts.
-----
-----The 250 GTE employs the race proven Colombo 3 liter V12 engine producing 240 bhp and transmits power to the rear axle via a four speed synchromesh gearbox with overdrive. Precise handling, crisp acceleration, and the wonderful V12 roar make for a very exciting drive. Fashioned by Pininfarina and certainly the most attractive of all Ferrari 2 2 models, the 250 GTE represents the perfect blend of comfort, luxury, and classic high performance motoring.
